It’s starting to look retro-futuristic at this point. Nice.

What is that blue car? Why does that lancia look off?
![]() 06/14/2016 at 14:47 |

Nissan R390. Because the engine’s in the wrong place.

Nissan R390.
The Lancia does look oddly truncated, doesn’t it?

Why didn’t I know about this?!?

It makes no sense that Ford put this engine in a Mustang in order to homologate it instead of the Torino where is should have been, but sometimes doing it wrong turns out right.

A while back the someone asked “What is the best automotive term?”. I saw the post late, but I have to say homologoation is the best term. I posted my response late, and I don’t think anyone saw it.

I vividly remember leafing through the local “Wheels Deals” used car advertising pamphlet back when I was in high school (pre-internet days) and seeing a Boss 429 for sale for the unbelievably high price of $10k.

I’ve decided. 22B is best

I don’t like these late 90s GT1 road cars as much as I used to. While they look incredible, they aren’t really usable in the real world and end up sitting in garages.

Porsche 917 is quite good example of making a very extreme race car in surprisingly high quantities. 25 was required for the homologation for Gr5 but they ended making twice the amount before finally retiring 917.

I love the 917

A guy in my village had a 993 GT2. He made his money importing electronics, but someday he disappeared quickly, I guess his business wasn’t kosher. I loved the car though. He had some minor work done on it at my fathers shop.

Ah, Landstrasse, the track inspired by the shape of a squirrel!

wow I never noticed that. there was a squirrel floating in my kids’ pool yesterday in that exact position. That was a blast having to drain and clean out the pool....

This might be a good opportunity to ask; are these two some of the last homologation specials ever, if at all?
